St. Johns Trip

The beginning of April was Porter's spring break and Elise invited John and I to tag along. So we all road tripped down to SJ for the week. John did okay not the best on the way down but was wonderful on the way back up! I think he is turning into a good little traveler.
I always love going home. No matter how old one gets, there is something so comforting about going home and being with Mom and Dad.

The first day, we hung out at home and recovered from our rather long road trip down. Michelle loved playing with John and it was nice to have others around to entertain the little guy. Sometimes, I wonder if he gets bored of just having Mom to look at and play with.

Another day, we went and explored the local rock shop. Porter found some pretty cool rocks and the guy that owns the place even gave Porter a free rock! I remember going to the rock shop on a field trip when I was in elementary school but I haven't been back since. I found out that it supplies souvenir rocks to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and the Petrified Forest. Pretty cool coming from St. Johns.

Porter put on a couple puppet shows for us starring his teddy's. They were pretty funny. :)

And of course, we had to go to El Camino one day for lunch. They still have some of the best Mexican food around. I have yet to find a place in Utah that is as good.

We also hit up good ol' Patterson's Pond. The city has done a lot to improve it and make it more accessible. Porter had a lot of fun throwing rocks in the water. It was a beautiful day when we went. Probably 70 degrees and no wind, which is a small miracle for St. Johns in the spring. I have so many good memories of Patterson's Pond growing up. My friends and I used to go swimming out there. There was a rope swing tied to one of the trees that you could swing from and drop into the water.

The last night we were there, we had a hotdog roast. This is probably one of my favorite summer activities to do at home. John was fascinated by the fire.

It is always hard to leave. I miss home a lot and it is hard living so far away. If I could convince Zac, I would love to move back to Arizona. I loved growing up in a small town and I wish I could give that to John. A kid has so much more freedom in a small town. I don't think that I will ever be able to convince Zac but a girl can dream, right?
