Thoughts on Pregnancy

I only have five weeks left until my due date. We are so close to finally meeting this little dude. I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas morning. But the anticipation and excitement is so much better. I am constantly amazed that my body is doing this. That my body that I felt was broken for so many years is actually supporting a healthy pregnancy.

I think the most surprising thing to me about this entire pregnancy is how much negativity I have experienced as well meaning people ask me how I am doing. So many people have something negative to say about being pregnant or about raising children. And it drives me crazy. I am not saying that pregnancy is the easiest, most comfortable thing that has ever happened. Of course it comes with discomforts like swollen ankles, heart burn, sleepless nights, etc. But it is the most miraculous thing that has happened to me. I would not change a single thing about my pregnancy because this is a rare blessing.

There is something completely magical about feeling my little baby boy move inside me, about knowing that in five short weeks I will hold the baby that I have longed for in my arms for the first time.

To anyone struggling with appreciating their pregnancy or their children. Stop and look at that beautiful belly or your beautiful children. These are some of the greatest miracles that you can receive in this life. There are many many families that would trade shoes with you in a heartbeat to experience what you have had the opportunity to experience. Would you really let some of the frustrations and discomforts rob you of the joy these precious souls bring into your life? I hope not.
In a world that seems to be increasingly negative, it is more important than ever to be the positive and the good.

Speaking of good....my talented sister-in-law, Emma, offered to take my maternity pictures. Of course I was excited and jumped at the chance to document my pregnancy. All I can say is that the pictures turned out more beautiful and perfect than I could have imagined. Thank you, Emma, for taking the time to take these pictures. Below is a sneak peek.

Baby Party!!!

Life is full of moments that you never want to forget and that is why I blog and journal because I want to remember those feelings forever. Last week was definitely one of those moments. Elise and Mom threw me the most beautiful baby shower. I cannot thank them enough for their hard work and what it meant to me. Thanks to Lindsey for coming down for it too. :)

Baby showers have always been one of those things that I have wanted to have, wanted to be part of, wanted to be able to enjoy. I cannot count the number of showers I have gone too where I am genuinely happy for my friend but leave early and cry all the way home because I never knew if I would ever have the opportunity to experience pregnancy or motherhood.

This shower, I definitely cried but not tears of sadness but tears of joy! I couldn't hold back my emotions anymore as I opened so many gifts from wonderful friends and family, knowing that they were all for my little baby! For my little baby boy!

Thank you to all who came or sent words of congratulations. Each of you mean the world to me.

Emma's Wedding!

Along with all the funerals there was also a lot of happy times mixed in between. At the end of May, Emma and Blaine were sealed in the Provo City Center Temple. It was absolutely beautiful! It was such a neat experience being in the temple with all of Zac's family. Emma is the youngest and the last sibling to get married and each of Zac's siblings along with their spouses were able to be in the temple for the sealing.

It was a busy weekend full of celebration! Emma and Blaine were sealed on Thursday then the reception was on Friday and then on Saturday, we spent the day with family. It was been so nice to be able to spend so much time with Zac's family. All of his siblings are pretty spread out across the USA so it isn't very often that we get to see them multiple times a month.

Congratulations Emma and Blaine!

I swear, Zac gets 10 years younger whenever he is around his brothers. :) They sure do love to goof off.

26 Weeks!

The get-away car! This was Grandpa Vidmar's car and it now belongs to Zac's Aunt Melissa and Uncle Jim.

Grandma Burton

March, April and May were pretty crazy months in the Vidmar household. Not long after Zac's grandpa passed away, his Grandma Burton also passed away. Grandpa and Grandma Burton had been married for over 70 years! They were definitely one of the sweetest, most caring and loving couple you would ever meet. I hope Zac and I can have a marriage as strong and loving as theirs.

Grandma Burton grew up in the South. She met Zac's grandpa while he was stationed out there during WWII. She joined the church and left all of her family to move out west with Grandpa and start their life together.

When she passed away, they were living in Logan, UT. So we headed up there for the service. She was then buried in a small cemetery in rural Idaho about an hour north of Logan. It was so beautiful and green, it was the perfect resting place for such an amazing lady. The cemetery also is the resting place for many of Zac's ancestors. It was neat to walk around and here about his family history.
